PAIN MANAGEMENT

Pain Management Clinic in Dallas-Fort Worth

Chronic pain is debilitating disease suffered by millions of Americans every day. Here at Foundation Physicians Group, we provide pain management for those who have either had failed surgical interventions or those who wish to try other non-pharmaceutical options. Out physicians understand that pain management can be simple or complex, depending on the cause of the pain, and also the way it impacts your day to day life. Many people try a wide array of specialists before they feel any kind of relief.

Some common bones, joints and muscles injuries we treat:

  • Interventional procedures
  • Medication management
  • Physical therapy or chiropractic therapy
  • Psychological counseling and support
  • Acupuncture and other alternative therapies; and
  • Referral to other medical specialists
The treatment of pain is guided by the history of the pain, its intensity, duration, aggravating and relieving conditions, and structures involved in causing the pain. The idea behind most interventional procedures for treating pain is that there is a specific structure in the body with nerves of sensation that is generating the pain. Pain management has a role in detecting the exact source of the problem and isolating the optimal treatment.

A few of the procedures we offer are:

Rhizotomy

Epidural Steroid Injection

Facet Joint Injection

Splanchnic Nerve Block

Lumbar Sympathetic Block

Stellate Ganglion Block

Medial Branch Block

Intercostal Nerve Block

Joint Injections

Trigger Point Injections

Hardware Injection

Sacroiliac Joint Injection

Selective Nerve Root Block

Healthcare providers recommend injecting pain-relieving medicine to directly numb or block the site of the affected nerve. Each type of injection blocks the pain signals the nerve would otherwise send to your brain. A Few of the common types of therapeutic nerve blocks include:

Epidural: Women opt for an epidural to ease the pain of labor and childbirth. Epidural injections are useful for severe pain in your neck, back, or leg. The physician injects you by X-ray guidance. The injection can be given with or without a local anesthetic, and an added steroid, such as cortisone, helps decrease inflammation in the area.

Suprascapular Nerve Block: This block is useful for chronic pain involving the shoulder that does not respond to injections directly into arthritic joints. It is also used to block shoulder pain that is severe enough to interfere with needed physical therapy.

Facet Joint: These are steroid injections with local anesthetic into the facet joints in the spinal bones, or vertebrae, can help treat back pain resulting from arthritis or injury. Pain in the neck, middle back, lower back, buttocks, or upper legs can be controlled in this way.

Sacroiliac Joint: These are steroid injections with local anesthetic medicine directly inserted into the sacroiliac joint, the area between the pelvic bones in the lower back. They block pain in the buttocks, upper leg, and lower back.

Occipital Nerve Block: This is a steroid injection with local anesthetic inserted into the occipital nerves in the back of the head can help relieve pain from chronic headaches and types of neuralgia.
